Home is more than a place

On the possibilities of finding a home within alienating modernity

About

More and more, people are on the search for a place to call home in a world that seems uncertain and within a life that changes faster than it can be understood. More than ever even those who normally have a comfortable home find themselves faced with the lack thereof. Home becomes a fleeting commodity in an era in which people and things are becoming global.

People themselves become fleeting due to the constant back and forth between the worlds, and they begin to wonder: Where am I truly at home? Where have I been in the past? Where is a home going to be possible in the future?

›Home‹ has a bright future but not by keeping it the same it has been in the past. It is necessary to expand the concept of ›home‹ because home is more than a place. It can be considered life’s base camp from which explorations into the unknown are possible. Though it may not seem so at first, there are numerous possibilities to find a home. This diversity is often forgotten when the concept of ›home‹ is discussed and shall be in the focus of this book.
