About

On September 11th 2001, not only did the Twin Towers crash, but so did the unity of the Western World. The policy of the US-government, that pushes the United Nations to the bottom of the wall and stays put with breaking off Europe, has also had ist repercussions in Germany.

Today, the Western orientation of the »Bundesrepublik« is split up into its two constitutive elements: opportunistic adaptation to hegemonial power and moral bound to the principles of a Western culture. In this tenth volume of his Kleine Politischen Schriften, which appears in celebration of his 75th birthday on June 18th, Jürgen Habermas once again proves to be the brilliant analyst of the world politics as well as the one who gives its cue and analytic incentive to the German Republic. The Divided West is a collection of contributions to September 11th, including the brandnew and comprehensive essay about the future of the Kantian project concerned with a cosmopolitan setup of the world.
