Christoph Möllers nominated for the Deutscher Sachbuchpreis 2021

We are delighted to announce that Christoph Möllers has been nominated for the Deutscher Sachbuchpreis 2021 for his work Degrees of Freedom.

The jury states that: »In a brilliant and well-founded way, Möllers reminds us of the democratic context of the conception of legality and of the effect that freedom has, meaning that freedom is not inevitable but has always been a phenomenon of social ascription. Where does that leave individuality? How can liberalism work? Möllers argues the case for a redefinition of liberalism because only such a realignment can meet future challenges in regard to social justice and economic perspectives. A strong hypothesis for a necessary and urgent debate.«

The Deutscher Sachbuchpreis, endowed with 42,500 Euros, is awarded by the Stiftung Buchkultur und Leseförderung of the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels for an exceptional German-language work of non-fiction that stimulates social debates. One of the eight nominated titles will be elected the Non-Fiction Book of the Year by the jury on 14 June 2021 in Berlin.
