Marion Poschmann receives WORTMELDUNGEN Prize for Literature 2021

02.03.2021

The prize, endowed with 35.000 Euros, is awarded for the fourth time by the Crespo Foundation.

From the jury statement:

»The WORTMELDUNGEN Prize for Literature 2021 is awarded to author Marion Poschmann for her outstanding piece of short prose ›Laubwerk‹. Her poetic reflection on our intense coexistence with trees, our relationship with autumn leaves and city trees makes visible an aspect of reality that hardly receives any attention in everyday life. In doing so, she contributes to a different perception of the coexistence of humans, animals and plants and creates a literary vision for a future that does justice to the climate. […]. Beyond that, Marion Poschmann succeeds in dealing with the topic of climate change with charming humour and subtle irony without questioning the seriousness of her criticism. That way, her text impresses even those who are normally rather dissociated from the topic.«
