About

Lutz Seiler‘s poems, created between 2000 and 2003, undertake a journey through forty kilometres of night, they lead out of the native landscape, destroyed by uranium mining, depicted in pech & blende along »German canopy roads« and »behind garage-lines« – and into the historical layering of the Middle German and Brandenburg region.

Along the way, the author connects biographical elements, the landscape, and the political into »nervous systems of memory« with exceptional musical linguistic force. Even though it‘s the simple, concrete things that make history legible for a moment, in an instantaneously accurate, not repeatable constellation of the present. Before every poem, Lutz Seiler writes, lay the »(hi)story we experienced, the poems strikes its note, it doesn’t tell it, it tells its notes«. Deliberately and close to the substances, Seiler keeps working through his material, unexcitedly, secure in his tone, with an unmistakeable voice.
