Marion Poschmann on the shortlist for the Man Booker International Prize 2019

We are excited to announce that Marion Poschmann is on the shortlist for the 2019 Man Booker International Prize with her novel The Pine Islands.

The Man Booker International Prize is awarded annually for a single work of fiction, translated into English and published in the UK. The £50,000 prize is divided equally between the author and the translator. The winner will be announced on 21 May.

From the statement of the jury: »The Pine Islands is a serene, playful, profoundly moving story of the transformations we seek and the ones we find along the way.«

The German edition of The Pine Islands was on the Shortlist for the German Book Prize in 2017. It has also been on the best book lists with SWR and ORF and was on the bestseller lists of SPIEGEL, Focus, Stern and Börsenblatt. Marion Poschmann’s various previous awards include the Wilhelm-Raabe-Literaturpreis in 2013.

Overall sales of the German editions of The Pine Islands amount to more than 50.000 copies.
