Everything begins with a sigh that is as ubiquitous as it is usually ignored: the »mid-level« employees of the IT company McWorthy suffer silently from the impositions of their job. They can never be sure as to where they are and where they are (or should be) going. The only means of self-preservation: escape into the irrational. The first class upgrade becomes the sole purpose in life; the sacrifice of a USB flash drive constitutes a career boost; the accidental death in the beloved convertible morphs into a strangely relieving wishful dream.
The characters of these stories try to make their work life bearable with all sorts of imaginations and fictions, or they bring themselves to find ever new ways to buckle and submit themselves. Behind it all stands the unuttered question: Why do you put up with all of this?
