When Albert meets the beautiful Elena he falls head over heels in love. Is she the woman he wishes to share his life with, the woman he has always sought, and will she, after he has hesitated for weeks, take up the invitation he has at long last made to go for a walk together?
And then things happen on a park bench in Berlin's Tiergarten: they become more intimately acquainted with each other, the Italian woman and the student of art history from Northern Germany, and they become a couple. But one day Elena decides she wants to return to her home in Sardinia, there to realize her dream of having her own shop. The end of all happiness? Not a bit. Albert goes along with her, thinking, after all, that one can also work on studies in art history in some Sardinian solitude.
»The Earthly Amor« is told with delightful ease, ironic, witty, and a wonderfully sad love story.
