Lyman Frank Baum, born in Chittenango, New York, in 1856, worked in the oil industry, as a poultry farmer, stage actor, journalist and newpaper editor. In 1900, he became famous around the world with The Wizard of Oz. Baum died in Los Angeles in 1919.
