Feeling that his previous trip to Serbia and the resulting report needed to be supplemented, Peter Handke set out again in the late spring of 1996. Taking no notes while on the road, he wrote his Summer Postscript to a Winter Journey upon his return to Germany in June and July 1996. It is an emphatic, impressive and bleak report on the images, graven in his memory, of this stay in the Serbian Republic of Bosnia.
