We are delighted to share that Isabelle Van Groeningen has been awarded first place in the category »Best Book on Garden Poetry or Prose« at this year’s German Garden Book Award for The Seven Seasons. New Ideas for Your Garden All Year Round.

The jury states: »Hasn’t everything already been said or written on the subject of gardens? When picking up this book by [Isabelle Van Groeningen], who has Dutch roots and was educated in England, readers immediately realise that this is not actually the case.

The co-founder of the Royal Garden Academy in Berlin-Dahlem has much to say. The book contains many personal details, a lot of experience and many practical tips. In short: garden literature that will stay with you for a long time.«

The German Garden Book Award distinguishes books, blogs and podcasts on gardens and gardening as well as their pioneering creators. Founded in 2006, it is awarded in ten categories by Schloss Dennenlohe and endorsed by Stihl. The German Garden Book Award discovers and presents unique gardening trends: a competition that promotes authors dedicated to gardening culture.

Isabelle Van Groeningen grew up in Antwerp and studied Horticulture at the renowned Kew Botanic Gardens in London, followed by a PhD in garden history from the University of York. She has decades of experience working as a garden designer around the world. In 2008, she became the director of the Garden School at the Royal Garden Academy in Berlin-Dahlem, which she co-founded with Gabriella Pape that same year.
