Beitrag zu Robert Menasse Wins the Prix du Livre Européen 2023
Suhrkamp Verlag is thrilled to announce that Robert Menasse's novel Enlargement has been awarded the Prix du Livre Européen 2023. The prize represents not just a significant distinction for Menasse's witty and ambitious novel, but also for Philippe Giraudon's French translation, which was published by Verdier in August 2023.

Established in 2007 and organised by the association Esprit d'Europe, the prize seeks to promote European values and to contribute to an improved understanding of the European Union as a cultural entity. On 9 November 2023, the jury of 15 European journalists, chaired by the Italian novelist and essayist Giuliano da Empoli, met in Paris to decide on the prize.

After constructive discussions, the decision was made to award the prize to Menasse for his novel Enlargement. The author will receive a cash prize of EUR 10,000, with the official ceremony taking place at the European Parliament on 30 November. President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, chair of the Prix du Livre Européen organisation, Pascal Lamy, and chief judge, Giuliano da Empoli, will all be in attendance.
