In this episode of Dichtung & Wahrheit, Laura de Weck's guest is Stephan Lohse. The author and former actor talks about his past in the theatre, the contrasts and similarities between acting and being a writer, and what bothered him about the theatre industry. Based on his new novel The Humming Underneath the Skin, the conversation also revolves around the lives of gay teenagers in 1970s Germany and the challenges they faced during that time.

Stephan Lohse was born in 1964 in Hamburg and has appeared on stage as an actor at theatres such as Thalia Theatre in Hamburg, Schaubühne Berlin and Schauspielhaus Vienna. The Humming Underneath the Skin will be out on July 17, 2023.
