Ozan Zakariya Keskinkılıç and Nina Bußmann have both made the shortlist for the 2026 Literaturpreis der deutschen Wirtschaft for their novels Son of a Dog and Three Weeks in August.

Since 1953, the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft has been honouring powerful young voices in contemporary German-language literature. The award comes with a cash prize of €20,000 and celebrates the diversity of literary forms and genres, with a focus on narrative prose, essays, and poetry. It is awarded annually to authors up to 45 years of age whose works demonstrate high levels of literary quality, linguistic innovation, and aesthetic daring.

The winner will be announced on 7 Mai 2026. A public reading and award ceremony will take place in October 2026 as part of the 75th annual conference of the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft.

Nina Bußmann, born in Frankfurt/Main in 1980, studied General and Comparative Literature and Philosophy in Berlin and Warsaw and currently lives in Berlin. She has received various awards for her work, including the 3sat Prize at the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize 2011 for an excerpt from her debut novel Große Ferien.

Ozan Zakariya Keskinkılıç was born in 1989 and studied political science in Vienna, Berlin, and Cambridge. In 2022, his first collection of poetry, Prinzenbad, was published by Elif Verlag, and in 2023, he published the non-fiction work, Muslimaniac: Die Karriere eines Feindbildes with Verbrecher Verlag. His work has been published in prominent periodicals and anthologies and has been translated into multiple languages. He has been nominated for the Clemens Brentano Prize and the Dresden Poetry Prize, and received the Wolfgang Weyrauch Advancement Prize in 2025. Hundesohn (Son of a Dog) is his first novel.
