The Triumph of the Clematis in Europe

»It’s the parents who decide whether a child is dead forever.«
Life plans are worrisome worlds apart, transitions and nuances threaten to disappear in the public debate. David is dead, as published by the influencer Tim and some journalists, but from the parents’ point of view their boy has been suffering from a kind of dementia ever since his traffic accident. Life plans are worrisome worlds apart, transitions and nuances threaten to disappear in the public debate. David is dead, as published by the influencer Tim and some journalists, but from the parents’ point of view their boy has been suffering from a kind of dementia ever since his traffic accident. Renate and Konrad are looking for a school for their son, who takes the form of a tablet in a wheelchair. Its screen shows David’s thoughts – typed by the parents who claim: »We spent every day with him, after all, and know how he thinks.«
Renate and Konrad refuse to grieve, which would force them to let their son die. They oppose »spared« and childless people who, like Tim in his video, refer to David’s grave with a fighting spirit and accuse them of killing him in their thoughts.
In interviews, online videos and sound recordings, Clemens J. Setz initiates a bizarre war of words. Who has control over the line between life and death? Away from the absurd debate and with astonishing realism, the author accompanies the parents and their son into the abysses of emotions and speechlessness.
