Beitrag zu Clemens J. Setz Wins the Austrian Book Prize 2023 for Moons Before the Landing
We are thrilled to announce that Clemens J. Setz’s novel Moons before the Landing has been awarded the Austrian Book Prize for 2023.

The 2023 Prize is jointly administered by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, the Civil Service, and Sport, the Hauptverband des Österreichischen Buchhandels, and the Arbeiterkammer Wien, and serves to recognize the quality and independence of Austrian literature, and to raise its profile throughout the German-speaking world. The award comes with a cash prize of EUR 20,000. The prize is awarded by an independent panel of judges, who said the following about Moons before the Landing:

»The narrating voice displays a high degree of cultural, historical, and linguistic sensitivity, never taking sides or suggesting a particular verdict. In this way, readers can find their own way into this complex material and experience ›from within‹ the gradual social alienation of this human being, who somehow remains likable despite everything.«
