Ulrike Edschmid and Maren Kames Shortlisted for the Wilhelm Raabe Literary Prize

Suhrkamp authors Ulrike Edschmid and Maren Kames have been shortlisted for the Wilhelm Raabe Literary Prize for their novels The Last Patient and Hare Prose respectively. For Kames, this is her second nomination in as many weeks, after she was included in the longlist for the German Book Prize last week.
The Wilhelm Raabe Literary Prize is one of the major literary prizes in the German-speaking world and is administered by Deutschlandfunk and the City of Braunschweig. Endowed with EUR 30,000, the prize is awarded annually to a work of narrative written in German. Previous winners include Christian Kracht, Rainald Goetz, Marion Poschmann, Judith Schalansky, and Clemens J. Setz. The final decision of the judges will be announced at an awards ceremony in Braunschweig on 3 November 2024.
