Barbara Köhler

Barbara Köhler was born in 1959 in Burgstädt in East Gremany. She began writing early. After training as a textiles worker and completing a degree at the Johannes R. Becher Literary Institute in Leipzig, she soon found recognition as a poet in both East and West, and received multiple awards for her work. In 1994 she moved to Duisburg, where she lived until her death in 2021, at the ageof 61. In the final years of her life, she was a professor at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne.
