Barrie Kosky

Barrie Kosky, born in Melbourne in 1967, is one of the most sought-after opera directors in the world. From 2012 to 2022 he was the artistic director and chief director of the Komische Oper Berlin. Engagements have taken him to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Vienna State Opera, the Paris Opera, the Salzburg Festival and the Bayreuth Festival. At the end of his first season at the Komische Oper Berlin, it was voted Opera House of the Year in the Opernwelt magazine critics’ poll, and in 2016 he was named Director of the Year in that same poll. In 2014 he received the International Opera Award for Director of the Year.
