Cornelia Funke

Cornelia Funke is the German-speaking world's most famous author of books for children and young adults, and her books are read and loved around the world. After training as an illustrator, she turned to writing, because she didn't always like the books she was supposed to illustrate. Cornelia Funke lives in Volterra, Italy, where she is putting together a project for emerging artists and conservationists. One of the central objectives of her artistic work is to use stories and pictures to ignite curiosity in everything that is not made by humans in this world. For her literary oeuvre, she received the German Youth Writing Prize in 2020.
