Wilhelm Grimm, born in Hanau in 1786 and died in Berlin in 1859, was a German lawyer, linguist and literary scholar. His literary life’s work is closely linked to that of his older brother Jacob Grimm. Together they worked on a major project: a German dictionary that would hold the entire Modern High German vocabulary.
